For the past two years, we have been working with Mr. Loi, a lcquerware craftsman in Hanoi. The rich finish is the result of seven coats of lacquer over a period of five weeks. We initially worked with traditional lustrous golds, silvers and black to create miso bowls, trays and boxes of all sorts,
But it transpired eventually that Mr. Loi had a Pantone chart and that we could choose any colours we wanted to … henc the brilliant Highveld sunset orange and the chartreuse that picks up the colours of the veld here. With many colours still to come, we just love our lekker lacquer. As the sole and dircet importer we passs on trhe saving to you and make this range affordable, with boxes starting at R120 ($14)
